~22~

For those of us who love Fall for it's color, there is the Sweet Gum tree. This tree is like the grand finale in fireworks. It has so many colors on one tree, even on one branch. This picture here is just the end of one branch and it has green, red, yellow, orange, and purple. If you enlarge the picture, you can see the seed balls at the end, too. My niece used to have nightmares about these prickly guys when she was just a few years old. They sure can hurt if you step on them in your bare feet.

Only 8 pictures to go! Have you enjoyed this as much as I have?

One of our homes had a huge yard with many, many trees--and we had our share of sweet gums. While I can't claim to have loved cleaning up the prickly seed pods, I did love the trees themselves and their incredible foliage!

Blessings!

You have to watch for them, don't you? Those sneeky little things will rake into a leaf pile just like the leaves, and they aren't very forgiving when you jump, or step, on them. My poor niece used to step on them when she was walking on the sidewalk (wow, 10 years ago now!), which caused her to have bad dreams about them.
